Nelly and Bob Sammon are the co-owners of petbar Katy which opened in February 2022. “We are excited to bring petbar to the Cinco Ranch area - we look forward to providing a relaxing place for dogs and other pets to enjoy a spa day" explains Nelly. Nelly grew up in El Salvador where her parents owned a hotel and restaurant. Bob served in the U.S. Peace Corps in ElSalvador and rented a room in her parent's hotel. During her visits home from law school Nelly met Bob and before long they were dating. When he finished his Peace Corps service in ElSalvador, Bob went on to serve with the The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Afghanistan. He and Nelly continued their relationship long-distance. Very-long-love-story-short, soon after he completed his time in Afghanistan he proposed to Nelly and she accepted. They were married in 2007 and by 2013 they found their way to Texas. When searching for the best place to start their business, the Sammon family fell in love with Katy so much that they also decided to buy a house here. “Katy has always been a fun destination for us with its many restaurants, parks, family and dog-friendly activities,” says Nelly.
